Acne Boils Treatment for a Flawless Skin
The pimples, nodules, blemishes, white and black heads which appear on the skin are medically referred to as acne. Apart from the scars they leave, they also have psychological effects such as depression and a low self esteem. Hence, it is advisable to treat them at their onset.
Acne appears when the pores of the oil glands get blocked and infected by bacteria. The waxy substance which is responsible for lubricating the skin is sebum. When it is produced in a large quantity, it blocks the hair follicle. This leads to its getting infected by bacteria, thereby resulting in acne.
This skin problem is quite common and it affects the adolescents the most. This is because during the teenage, the sebaceous glands are quite active as they secrete hormones. Acne occurs mainly on parts such as the face, shoulders and chest as these parts have a large number of sebaceous glands.
As in the case of other skin boils such as mild furuncles, carbuncles etc, most of the acne boils too can get well sans any medical help. However, cystic acne is a severe form of acne which is followed by a fever and chills. Moreover, if red streaks are visible around the acne boil, it may imply that the infection has infused into the blood stream. If such signs appear, then medical treatment becomes imperative.
Acne appears as red and hard boils initially which gradually turns soft and white, due to the presence of pus. Until the acne boil gets softened, it is not advisable to meddle with it. However, once it becomes soft and forms a pustule or head, it can be drained to reduce the pain. Acne boils treatment differs according to the size of the boil and the region where it appears. The most popular and effective acne boils treatment is as follows:
# Heat application on the boils by using cloth soaked in hot water is helpful as it accelerates the blood circulation in that area. This increases the number of white blood cells or leukocytes and antibodies entering the infected part to fight off the bacteria.
#If the acne boil is large, it is deemed best to be removed by a doctor. Since acne boils are contagious, one has to be cautious at the time of its removal. The doctor numbs the infected area before making an incision on the skin. This creates an outlet for the pus which is then removed either by the use of a tube or by allowing it to get released by itself. After the acne boil has been drained or lanced in this way, it may either get cured completely without pills or may require some medication before getting healed.
#Hygiene plays an important role in preventing acne and in checking its further spread. Anti bacterial face wash and medicated soaps should be used to prevent the bacteria from causing inflammation. Care should be taken to use clean towels and pillow covers.
#Taking oral retinoids for a few months may help in checking the occurrence of acne boils. It is said to reduce the secretion of oil from the glands and is valuable acne boils treatment as it can cure even the most severe cases of acne boils.
#Sulphur based cleansers are used to treat acne boils because sulphur has hydrophilic properties due to which it can easily penetrate into the infected sebaceous pores. Sulphur is an age old remedy for acne and continues to be an active ingredient in many shampoos, lotions, creams etc.
#A number of therapies such as dermabrasion, laser treatment, etc are used to remove the scars left by the acne.
Timely action and awareness can help in reducing complications. Hence acne boils should not be left unattended and medical help should be sought if required.
