A blind pimple is similar to a regular pimple as far as its origin is concerned. Both occur as a result of hormonal changes in the body which stimulate the sebaceous or oil glands in the skin. However, the infection in a regular pimple reaches a climax and it suppurates or discharges its pus. On the other hand, a blind pimple can be described as one that fails to suppurate normally.

For this we have the option of using a poultice or cataplasm. A poultice consists of a soft moist mass that is often heated and medicated.

A milk and bread poultice is quite effective in healing blind pimples. This methods heals faster then most of the antiseptic creams.

This poultice can be made in the following way:

• Heat a few teaspoons of milk in a pan.
• Turn off the heat and add a slice of white bread to the milk immediately.
• Let the bread soak up the hot milk.
• Press the bread slice in between the palms to remove the excess milk.
• The slice of bread should be placed over the blind pimple.
• The bread slice should be tied with gauze.
• The bread poultice dressing should be repeated after the poultice cools down.
• The blind pimple is most likely to develop a head like a regular pimple with this poultice.

Once the blind pimple suppurates normally the area around the pimple should be cleaned and disinfected.

The open wound should be left untouched to avoid affecting the healing process. Dressings should be changed until the swelling, redness and hardness around the blind pimple disappears.
