Boils on Skin- Causes of Their Origin and What Can be Done to Get
Back Your Clear Skin
Boils are a common skin problem which affects everybody at some point or the other. They may affect people belonging to different age groups such as the infants, aged people and youngsters. The causes of the origin of the boils may differ. So does the location of the boils. Although these boils can crop up in any part of the body but they are more inclined to affect the hairy regions and the parts where friction is caused on the skin by movement.
Boils on skin are mostly the result of bacterial infection. Bacteria can be present on the skin’s surface and even in nasal passages. However, they can cause harm when they get a chance to spread beneath the skin. There are several ways by which the bacteria creep into the skin. Sometimes rashes appear on the skin. These rashes get aggravated by rubbing and create tiny fissures on the skin .Some minor cuts, if left open and untreated, give the bacteria an entrance into the skin. They reach the hair follicle and start multiplying there. Thus an infection starts. Sometimes, a foreign object such as an infected piece of wood or a splinter land up in the skin through an opening on the skin.
They also lead to a bacterial infection. Living in unhygienic places which are over crowded or sharing personal items such as towels with some one who has chronic boil infection also causes boils on skin.
Besides these reasons, there are also some underlying health conditions which may cause boils on skin.
Certain medications cause boils and should be discontinued or substituted by some other pills.
Since boils need to be defeated by the body’s immune system, a weak immune system is responsible for eruption of boils. Vitamins and minerals should be taken along with the treatment of the boil in order to strengthen the body from within.
People who suffer from diabetes are also more susceptible to developing boils on their body. The body reacts to certain foods in the form of an allergy. These allergic reactions also cause boils at times.
The boils are also a kind of a skin abscess. They are called by different names depending to their nature.
Furuncles are those staph bacterial infections which affect a single hair follicle and the nearby tissues. They can be mild ones or may even grow into large boils. Carbuncles are a group of furuncles clubbed together at a single point on the skin. However they have multiple openings or channels to discharge the pus as they infect a group of hair follicles. Since they are complex types of boils, they need to be treated medically without any delay.
They are often accompanied by chills in the body
And even fever. Boils on the central face or nose are considered to be more severe than the rest. Moreover, the boils which occur on the skin of those people who have underlying problems like week immunity should not be left unchecked.
A bacterial culture is done to determine the root cause of such boils. This helps the doctor in understanding the course of treatment. Often antibiotics have to be registered in order to prevent the spread of the bacterial infection to the surrounding region.
Systemic antibiotics are prescribed for those people, who suffer from large boils, have chances of spreading cellulites or the ones whose boils do not show any response to ointments. People who have a week immunity level are also advised to have systemic antibiotics.
Certain people suffer from skin boils because of predisposing factors such as diabetes, occupational hazards which expose them to grease and moisture, obesity and bacterial presence in their nasal passages. It is advisable for them to get these problems rectified to curb the frequent recurrence of boils.
